- Power reads normal and nothing comes out. Check the spot-shot parameter first — the source will not emit unless the pulse frequency is set correctly.
- Parameters and configuration all check out and it still will not emit. Take a multimeter to the PWM and DA outputs on the adapter board. P+/P- carry PWM: with DIP 1 up and 2 down, 100% PWM is 22 V and 50% is 11 V; with DIP 1 down and 2 up, 100% is 4 V and 50% is 2 V, and so on. D1 and D2 carry DA1 and DA2. The value shown in the control-card monitor must match what you measure — if it does not, compare the reading with the cable connected and disconnected to localise the fault.
- Everything above checks out and the shutter still will not open — this is beyond the machine builder; escalate to the laser manufacturer.
- The source emits even when no PWM modulation signal is present. That is a laser-side fault — have the laser vendor look at it.
- The laser never sees the adapter board's output signal. Check the signal wiring for poor contact; if it still fails, contact the laser vendor.
- If nothing else clears it, try a 1 kOhm resistor wired in parallel across P+ and P-.
- External interference is corrupting the modulation signal the laser receives — inspect the modulation signal cable.
- On YLS sources an indicator lamp confirms the shutter has actually opened — use it to separate a control fault from a shutter fault.
- Newer sources may have changed their timing. Prefer network-communication control over the hardwired interface when retrofitting.
- Beam drops out or a cut is skipped occasionally during a job — work back through the interlock, shutter and modulation chain rather than touching process parameters.
